Helping Nature Along

Panama City Beach's legendary pure white sand is nature's gift. Mother Nature, however, is known for both her generosity and the swiftness with which her gifts can be taken away, and over the years, the pounding waves of the Gulf recaptured much of this sparkling shoreline.

That is why in 1998, The Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau began the largest beach nourishment program in the history of Florida.

Today the $20 million program has added 100 feet of beach along nearly 17 miles of Panama City Beach, giving thousands of families the chance to play on our soft sand for years to come. In addition to wider, smoother beaches, a replenished sand dune system and the planting of 600,000 sea oats, a natural erosion fighter, now protect our shores and offer nesting sites to numerous birds and animals.

The results are stunning and we're sure you'll agree.
